Malahide V Merrion Saturday 20th September.

Merrion with hopes of taking the league title to the very last game of the season were asked to bat first at Malahide.

Batting was difficult particularly at one end where the ball was keeping exceptionally low. Dom Joyce made a quick fire 22 before being bowled leg stump, however with the exception of John Anderson, batting was far from easy.

A 6th wicket stand of 63 with Matthew Petrie saw Merrion reach a total of 183 for 7 in their 50 overs. Anderson making a very steady and patient 102 not out. The pick of the Malahide bowlers were Steve Smith with 3 for 23 and Andrew Coghlan 1 for 28 off his 10 over spell.

Malahide found the going equally as tough. John Pryor took on the bowling for a while with a quick 20 and captain Mike O'Brien fought hard for 27, but at no stage were Malahide ever really in this run chase, as they were bowled out for 118 in the 46th over.

Matthew Petrie was back on top form with the ball with an amazing 8 overs 4 wkts for 8 runs. Patel was the other Merrion bowler of note with 2 for 14 off 10 overs, as Merrion won by 65 runs.
