Old Belvedere's promotion hopes took a dent at the Cabra Oval on Saturday with a defeat to YMCA.
YMCA won the toss and decided to bat.Belvedere who where missing 3 of their regular 11 broke through immediately with Richie ODonnell bowling McCoy 6 for 1 became 17 for 2 when Kulahari bowled Wilson Moore.
What followed was a excellent stand between Alan Lewis 56 and Ben Dunk 52. Dunk was run out by a direct hit by Derek McGeehan. Lewis then departed Stumped By Peter ODonnell off Dutt.Belvedere then put some pressure on reducing ym to 167 for 8 but a good stand between Nandi and Harte took the score to 215 for 9 in the last over. Ym were bowled on the last ball of their innings and worked hard for their total of 220 and batted with great patience and common sense. Raza 3 for 34 and Dutt 2 for 47 were the pick of the Belvedere bowlers.
Belvedere's reply got off to a disastorous start Kumar who had a difficult day in the field missed timed a pull shot and was caught and bowled by Ahmed, who then trapped stand in opener Raza Lbw 15 for 2. Yogesh and Dutt set about repairing the damage .They brought the score to 72 when Dutt was caught by Armstrong off Nandi for a combatitive 25.
Captain ODonnell played on the very next over to Armstrong.Sreekanth Singh struck two lovely fours but was then trapped lbw by Armstrong. Ali went two balls later caught off the bowling of Armstrong. Yogesh continued to battle away and was at his fluent best 87 from 87 balls with some breath taking strokeplay. When Harte caught Yogesh with a brilliant diving effort of Armstrong the jig was up for Belvedere.
Belvedere where bowled out for 149 as Armstrong claimed his 6th wicket with yet another LBW. Armstrong finished with 6 for 18 and his team where worth their win .Ymca won by 71 runs.
